During the keynote, 1:45-3:30pm,

*Please note 1:45pm workshop start instead of 2pm as of 1/17/19.

How

You'll find out the cue at the "live" rehearsal!

(Register for and attend either Wednesday, February 6th, or Thursday, February 7th, 7-8:30pm)

 

You do NOT have to have a dance background to do this!

#ShakeIt is about self-acceptance, joy, community, and fun!

If this is your first time doing #ShakeIt, note the activity level. Please honor any physical limits you may have. Change, modify, or don't do steps that don't feel good to your body. Take care so you can have a fantastic experience!

To participate, it's easy! 

You'll need to:

1-Register, 2-Rehearse, 3-Reveal

1 - Register

  • Please first review information on this page. Then register to reserve your spot and order your flash mob T-shirt (form is below, on this page).
    • Space is limited!
    • Registration will close when full or by noon PST, Friday, January 25th.

2 - Rehearse at iaedp™ 

  • One rehearsal is required for EVERYONE participating.
    • Wednesday, February 6th from 7-8:30pm. 
    • OR Thursday, February 7th from 7-8:30pm.
      • Location in the hotel TBD (organizer will email the information).
  •  The routine will be taught. (We'll laugh, sweat, and bond!)
    • A TUTORIAL VIDEO has been provided if you want to pre-learn the choreography (scroll down for video).
  • Receive your T-shirt (PLEASE READ "Your T-shirts & The Reveal" below).

3 - Reveal our flash mob at iaedp™ 2019

  • Saturday, February 9th, as a SURPRISE during the 2-3:35pm keynote. 
    • You'll find out the cue at rehearsals. 

 

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES & CONDITIONS

  1. Participation is VOLUNTARY.
  2. This will be FILMED/documented. By participating, you give PERMISSION for iaedp™ and #ShakeIt to USE YOUR IMAGE/VOICE.
  3. You are RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF. Take breaks, hydrate, wear appropriate shoes, etc. If you may suffer from a medical condition, it is your responsibility to make sure this activity is safe to participate in. Do what you need for an awesome experience!

Your T-shirts & The Reveal

We're doing a REVEAL to the red T-shirts.

  • PLEASE PRACTICE how you do this by QUICKLY taking off your over-clothing (jacket, wrap, shirt) OR putting on your #ShakeIt & iaedp™ T-shirt on over your conference clothing.
    • WARNING ABOUT WARDROBE MALFUNCTIONS (You know what we mean!): 
      • Make sure you have a way to quickly shift from your conference attire to our sea of red tees without showing the guests more than you mean to! 
      • Also, we'll be in the audience, so think about if you'll need to stand to avoid bumping or elbowing a seat-neighbor.
      • YOU GOT THIS!

    • The "Men's" is our Unisex/Adult (S-5XL).

We will teach the routine at iaedp™! If you want to get a headstart, here's the tutorial.

 

Hints!

  • The tutor is a mirror of you. If she steps left, you step left.
  • Once you know SECTION THREE, you know about HALF THE DANCE! Start there! (Go to 09:55)
  • Most people find the dance at 26:00 most helpful to practice with. (We didn't know that yet when we made the video. Oopsie.)
  • Anthem's lyrics often tell the dance steps (e.g., our arms make an X on the word "Stop.") "I'm Original" can be downloaded HERE on iTunes and lyrics live here

Order with Timecodes:

  • 00:04     Whole dance mirrored
  • 03:36     Section break downs (in chunks of 8-counts with whole section runthroughs after each section has been shown)
  • 26:00     Whole dance as if in flash mob
