is honored to be a part of the

M.O.M March U.S.A. 2015!  

 

Together we celebrate the

freedom of self-acceptance

and dance for those who cannot...

The #ShakeIt for Self-Acceptance!™ movement was created in 2014 to help disseminate awareness about body image and eating issues through inspiration, education, and a flash mob-style dance!

 

Wanna experience a few minutes of joy? Movement? Collective self-acceptance? It's happening Tuesday, October 27th, 2015, on Capitol Hill!

 

#ShakeIt is honored to to have been invited to bring our dance to the M.O.M March U.S.A. 2015, March Against Eating Disorders, a powerful awareness event organized by the Eating Disorder Coalition for Research, Policy & Action, Mothers Against Eating Disorders, and The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness. U.S. March Against Eating Disorders--dancing together in a powerful and united energy and voice!

To participate in #ShakeIt at the M.O.M March U.S.A., you need to:  

1.  Attend either rehearsal on Tuesday, October 27th, Congress side, West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol (South side toward the Rayburn building).  *You must register or be registered to attend the M.O.M March U.S.A.

 

Main rehearsal

1-3pm (Please arrive early for check in & possible waivers)

We'll be learning the whole dance

 

Special added rehearsal

for F.E.A.S.T. luncheon attendees & March sponsors

10:30-11:30am (Please arrive early for check in & possible waivers)

We'll be learning sections 3 through 7

 

To get a head start, check out the dance tutorial. We'll also teach the routine at rehearsals.

  • Safety reminders:
    • Wear comfortable clothes, safe-to-dance-on-lawn shoes, and an openness--It'll be super fun!
      • Worried it's too hard? See "Past Events" tab. You can do it!
    • Please pace yourself, be aware of your surroundings, and adjust as needed for your body!
  • Dance cue and instructions will be given at the live rehearsals.

​2.  Agree to and accept that:

  • Rehearsing and event attendance are both voluntary and at your own risk.  
  • Event area and rehearsals will be filmed and photographed. By your presence, you grant your permission for your likeness and voice to be included in various media formats.
  • If you are under 18-years of age, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can legally consent to your participation.
  • If you may suffer from a medical or mental health condition, it is your responsibility to make sure this activity is safe to participate in.
